Senior Living guides help you make decisions with your own money, so we want you to know exactly how they're made. This page explains what we do, what we don't do, and how we earn money from this section.
Last reviewed . We re-check prices and links every quarter.
What we cover
We write about products and services people on Medicare often ask about, especially things Original Medicare doesn't pay for. We choose topics based on what our readers need to know, not on which companies pay commissions. Some guides, like our guide to therapy and counseling, cover things Medicare already pays for and earn little or nothing from commissions. We publish them anyway.
We start with coverage and free options
Every guide begins with what Medicare and other programs cover, using official sources such as Medicare.gov wherever we can. Before we list anything you'd buy, we point to free or low-cost options worth checking first, such as your Medicare Advantage plan's benefits, your local Area Agency on Aging or your state's SHIP counselors.
We don't test products, and we say so
GMG does not test the products in this section. Instead, we summarize published testing from outside organizations, link to it, and name who said what. When a guide says a product was rated "best" for something, that label belongs to the organization that gave it, and we say which one. We never describe products as if we had used them ourselves.
Where our information comes from
We rely on official sources (such as Medicare.gov, the FDA and other federal agencies), established nonprofits, and published testing from independent reviewers. Every outside source is linked so you can check it yourself. Some of the reviewers we cite also earn affiliate commissions, and when they disclose that, we note it.
How we make money
Gentle Medicare Guide is supported by advertising and, in this section, by affiliate commissions. When a link is marked "paid link," we may earn a commission if you buy through it. That never changes your price. Commissions don't decide which products we include, how we describe them or what order they appear in, and no company pays to be listed, ranked or reviewed. Companies don't see or approve our guides before they're published.
Prices and dates
Prices change often. When we show a price, we say where it came from and the date it was checked, and we show the date each guide was last reviewed. Always confirm the current price, fees and return policy with the seller before you buy.
Health, money and legal topics
Our guides are general information, not medical, legal or financial advice. Guides on health-related products and services carry a reminder to talk with your doctor. We don't make claims about how well a product or service will work for you. If you're in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
Updates and corrections
We review each guide at least every three months and update it sooner when coverage rules, products or prices change. If you find something wrong or out of date, tell us at info@gentlemedicareguide.com or through our contact page. When we correct a factual error, we update the guide and its "last reviewed" date.
